Motoring show revs up for new series

A new series of BBC ALBA's acclaimed motoring show, Air an Rathad, starts on BBC ALBA this week.

With a fresh look for 2016, the series gets into gear with a winter theme as Donnie Mackay heads north to the frozen lakes of Sweden for a masterclass in ice driving.

TT Cup racing driver Mikaela Ahlin-Kottulinsky shows the boy from Ness how to skid like a pro.

Murray MacLeod sees more 4x4 action in the Mud Master, pitting his skills against the British Army. The driving is not a problem, but as we will witness, map skills could do with some serious attention.

Meanwhile, Linda Macleod meets legendary Scots car designer Ian Callum, famous for the Aston Martin DB7, and now winning awards for the stylish Jaguar XE.

It’s not long before Ian has his pencil out and draws Linda a one off car of her own.

This series covers all the action at the Crail Thrash, Skye Gravel Sprint and the Golspie Sprint and AAR favourite, Fiona MacKenzie, teams up with Murray to take on Linda and Donnie in a race across Scotland, completing crazy challenges along the way.
