New exhibition space opened at Grimsay Week

The first Grimsay Week saw people visiting from all over the Uists to learn about the work of organisations and businesses across Grimsay.

The official opening of Uist Wool’s new exhibition and retail space allowed visitors an opportunity to view the new Wool Centre along with tours of the Mill site, and workshops provided knitters with creative inspiration and ideas whilst having fun with yarns from Uist Wool.

Everyone seemed to enjoy getting involved with the hands-on activities and workshops, and the recordings and discussion with Donald Cameron brought back memories for many.

The week culminated in a glittering display of musical talent at the ‘Grimsay Sparkles’ ceilidh and we were warmed by the bonfire and refreshments afterwards.

Grimsay Community Association (GCA) would like to thank those who worked to make the week happen and the many folk who took part in the events and activities to make it a success.

The GCA will be hosting a variety of regular events at Ceann na h-Àirigh following on from the formal launch of its Heritage and Local Food Programmes, supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund and Big Lottery Fund.

On Wednesday afternoons from 23 November 2016, 3 - 6pm there will be heritage drop-in events, craft workshops, live music and seasonally themed events alongside the weekly local produce market and teas.
