MESSAGE FROM THE RECTOR

At the beginning of a new year and a new term, I would like to take this opportunity to wish all parents and pupils a very Happy New Year.

This term is always very busy for staff, pupils and their families, so I wish you all the best with the term ahead.

Pictured are those pupils who participated in this year’s Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) along with the judges.

Groups of S6 pupils produced a short presentation about a local charity of their choice and made a case as to why that organisation should be awarded the £3000 prize money.

The winners were: Callum Nicolson, Calum Mackinnon, Calum Mackenzie and Andrew Campbell who chose the Samaritans as their local charity.

Mr Calum Macsween, YPI Representative, introduced the event and presented the cheque on behalf of the John Wood Foundation.

The school would like to thank all pupils who participated, charity representatives who supported them and judges, Mr R Fraser, Mrs A Morrison and Mrs D Macleod.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT

The school’s Music Department hosted the Christmas concert at the end of last term.

More than 100 pupils participated in the concert, playing many different instruments, singing and reciting to a packed hall.

The event culminated in a rendition of Highland Cathedral performed jointly by the brass band, the pipe band and the fiddle group.

Congratulations and thanks to all who participated.

Training sessions have now begun with the new intake of junior librarians.

They have been learning about the organisation of the library and keeping everything tidy as well as getting to grips with the computerised library system.

The more experienced junior librarians have been helping to train the younger ones as well. The training sessions will continue this term, dates to be announced.
