A pocketful of Silver Screen gems

An innovative new cinema space is to launch at the An Lanntair arts centre in Stornoway next Friday.

The Pocket Cinema at An Lanntair will be an intimate space with a varied and unusual programme of films.

The launch event on July 29th will include a free screening of a surprise (or maybe not so surprising) Scottish cult classic, followed by a night of indie music in the café bar with a live DJ set from Tube Screamers.

The Pocket cinema has been made possible by equipment provided by the BFI as part of their Neighbourhood Cinema scheme and with funding from Film Hub Scotland, a part of the BFI’s Film Audience Network.

The Film Audience Network is a nation-wide initiative to connect venues and enable film exhibitors to work together in catering for the UK’s diverse audiences.

Film Hub’s support of The Pocket Cinema is intended to improve the amount and quality of films being enjoyed on the Isle of Lewis and Harris.

Watching films in The Pocket Cinema will be a unique experience with the venue’s community room adapted to accommodate a pop-up cinema with velvet curtains and blackout
