Saw Doctors to play An Lanntair in October

The gig is part of nine concerts the band will be playing across the Highlands this autumn as part of their come back tour following a three year hiatus.

During the October tour The Saw Doctors will debut new songs from their recently recorded studio album ‘Uber Value’, as well as playing all their Irish No. 1 hits including ‘N17’, ‘I Useta Lover’, and ‘To Win Just Once’, which the band’s songwriters Leo Moran and Davy Carton have just licensed to the Wisconsin State Lottery in the US for a TV ad campaign.

The Saw Doctors were discovered by Mike Scott of The Waterboys on a stormy wintry Tuesday night in Galway city, plying their trade with more gumption than virtuosity in the back of The Quays Bar.

Scott took an unlikely liking to the band and offered them the support slot on what was, at that time, the most revered up-coming rock and roll tour of the country.

And before the tour was complete, Scott offered the itinerant songsmiths the six-week Spring tour of Great Britain, starting in February 1989.

Loved and revered by their loyal fans, many of whom have been recruited by friends who are already fans, The Saw Doctors continue with a resilience and an effervescent energy and they are looking forward to a new album release and getting back on the road again.

Guitarist and songwriter Leo Moran, said of the upcoming tour: “The Saw Doctors have always received a great welcome in Scotland since our first visit back in 1989 when we supported The Waterboys in Aberdeen, Ayr, St Andrews, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

“You can’t beat the hospitality and sense of fun that we have experienced from Scottish people, especially in the Highlands and Islands.”
