Shop till you drop in support of The Leanne Fund

Co-op customers in Stornoway can now help support The Leanne Fund while doing the weekly shop.

The charity, which supports young people affected by Cystic Fibrosis across the Highlands and Islands and Grampian, has been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund.

This means that every time a Co-op Member in the region buy Co-op branded products and services, the Co-op will give 1% to The Leanne Fund.

Chrisetta Mitchell, Development Manager for The Leanne Fund said: “We are delighted to have been selected to receive funding from the Co-op Local Community Fund. It means that we will get a contribution towards our work providing much needed support to individuals and their families. But we need your help and would be so grateful if Co-op customers could get behind this fundraising drive.

“So if you’re a Co-op Member log in to your Co-op Membership account and choose us. If you’re not a member, please join and support us!”

Members who do not choose a specfic cause will have funds shared between local causes.

Money from sales of reusable carrier bags, and the 5 pence legal charge on carrier bags (where applicable) will also be used to kick start the funding for each cause so this will also benefit the Fund.

The Leanne Fund Development Project includes plans to support those affected by Cystic Fibrosis with fitness plans and equipment; counselling; complementary therapies and the administration of small grants and crisis funds.

The funds from this scheme will support young people with Cystic Fibrosis with our ‘On the Move’ initiative - providing support for those with CF who are setting up home independently for the first time or moving away to college or university. The Leanne Fund will also provide a mentoring/befriending service for 12 months.
