Special concert with Anne Lorne Gillies and friends

The best of Celtic Connections 2016 comes to our screens in February as BBC ALBA brings us Cuirm@Celtic.

Presented by Linda MacLeod, the series showcases the wealth of talent from across the Celtic Connections festival. This concert special marks 10 years since the publication of Anne Lorne Gillies’ magisterial book, Songs of Gaelic Scotland.

Cuirm@Celtic: Anna Latharna agus Caraidean features songs from each themed chapter from the book.

The songs cover centuries of music from Scotland’s most significant Gaelic composers and bards.

Appearing onstage with Anne at St Luke’s in Glasgow is a group of acclaimed singers and musicians including Arthur Cormack, Kathleen MacInnes, Angus MacLeod and Rachel Fraser.

Widely acknowledged as one of our most respected and popular singers, Anne is joined onstage by more special musical guests.

They include musical director Alan Kitchen on piano, Rhona Mackay, Alasdair Savage, Andrew MacPherson, John Sampson and Duncan Findlay on guitar.

The programme will be broadcast on BBC ALBA on Saturday 6 February at 9pm.
