This week we have the seond part of our pictorial feature highlighting the champions of Lewis and Harris football from down the years.

This week we see the team pictures of the champions from the 1950s and 60s on pages 36 and 37.

Other sporting events featured this week are a full report from the Alex Murray Cross Country series which took place in Lews Castle Grounds at the weekend see page 40, turning to pages 38 & 39.

We also celebrate Burns Night with a special feature on the history of our national bard, how this day is celebrated across the world and what makes for a perfect Burn’s Night Dinner on pages 16 & 17.

A reader from Canada sent us some fascinating slide images which show how the Islands were in the Victorian age. We feature two of these images, showing Stornoway and Barra from the 1880s, on page 10.
