Based in the Isle of Lewis, the organisation is part of a nationwide network that is supported by The Trussell Trust and aims to combat poverty and hunger right across the UK.

Co-op store manager, Steven Cooper, said: “We’ve been overwhelmed with the generosity of our customers and can’t believe how much food they’ve donated.

“179 stone is well over the weight of an entire football team! We’re very grateful to everyone who has contributed and hope that it goes some small way into helping those that need it most.”
