Thought of the Week - Offering a place for quiet contemplation

Some of you might have already noticed that there is some work going on at St Peter's Church right now.

We are having some long overdue maintenance carried out on our roof and guttering in order to ensure the building remains watertight for the foreseeable future.

Although there is scaffolding surrounding the building, we are determined that ‘service resumes as normal’ for all who regularly attend our services and for those who visit on a semi regular basis.

Not all of you might know, but St Peter’s opens daily between 9.30am until about 6pm for anyone who wishes to spend some quiet time on their own or to pray or meditate during a busy day.

We are determined to maintain this offering to the community and feel that it is a valuable pastoral outreach for everyone, regardless of whether you are of faith or no faith.

Of course, there are many other places on this island where people might go to find quiet and solace.

We have an abundance of stunning scenery to enjoy and there’s a good chance that you won’t be disturbed.

I simply offer an alternative and I hope that wherever you discover that space and peace, you are able to find out more about yourself and reap the benefits of time spent in contemplation.
