Visitor from Zimbabwe

Free Presbyterians on Lewis involved in the church's mission in Zimbabwe caught up with the latest news recently with the visit of an office-bearer from that country.

Mr Dame Sibanda, an elder from the Zenka congregation, visited the island following the church’s annual Synod.

Four ministers and many elders such as Mr Sibanda hold public worship in 40 locations in Zimbabwe.

With help from Dutch supporters, the FP church also runs a hospital, a rural health clinic, a children’s home, a 600-pupil six-year secondary school and five primary schools, as well as being involved in Bible translation work.

Many people from Ness, Breasclete, Point and the Highland mainland, including Stornoway FP minister Dr James R Tallach and his wife Mairi, have worked on the mission over the last five decades.
