Council has issued free school meals payments of £40

Comhairle nan Eilean Siar has issued cash payments of £40 per child to parents of children who are entitled to Free School Meals.

This is designed to support them during the current school closure period, up until the February 1.

If school closures are extended past that February 1 date there will be a subsequent payment issued for any extended period.

A total of £11,240 is being provided to approximately 155 families for 281 eligible pupils.

William Macdonald, Director for Education, Skills and Children’s Services said, “It is extremely important that no pupil in the Western Isles misses out because of school closures due to COVID-19. We are delighted to be able to provide this support.”
