Breaking news - Coronavirus cases in the Western Isles

NHS Western Isles confirmed this afternoon (Tuesday, March 31st) two cases of Covid-19 have been found in the Western Isles.

In a video, posted on Twitter at 2.53pm, NHS Western Isles Chief Executive, Gordon Jamieson said: “Today I can confirm that two individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 here in the Western Isles.

“Whilst I am disappointed that we have cases here in our community, we have been preparing for this eventuality for a number of weeks and we are ready to respond effectively.

“I cannot now overstate the importance of the stay at home rules. Please obey them, practise social distancing when you go out and only go out when you have to go out to prevent further spread here in our community.”
