We would urge our communities to follow current advice and guidelines around social distancing.

The rules around gatherings outside will not change when the Western Isles move into Level One on Monday therefore you should still not have any more than six people from two different households at a bonfire. Current guidance can be found on the Scottish Government website at: www.gov.scot/publications/coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-can-and-cannot-do/pages/seeing-friends-and-family/ or at: www.gov.scot/news/halloween-and-bonfire-night/

Group Commander Gavin Hammond said: “With public firework displays and bonfires not going ahead this year due to current guidance on gatherings under Covid-19 restrictions you may be tempted to hold your own fireworks display in the garden. We’d urge people to follow our advice to reduce any risks by ensuring to familiarise themselves with the Firework Code and fire safety guidance, for more information go to: https://www.firescotland.gov.uk/your-safety/fireworks-safety.aspx.”
