Shock for the Western Isles as a possible NEW Covid-19 cluster revealed on Lewis

NHS Western Isles can confirm that three Lewis residents have tested positive for COVID-19 yesterday, October 22.

Following a short inpatient stay for one; all three individuals are now self isolating at home.

NHS Western Isles can confirm that all the appropriate steps in terms of the Test and Protect guidance and support are fully underway.

To respect and maintain patient confidentiality, they will not be releasing any further details.

NHS Western Isles Chief Executive Gordon Jamieson, said: “We would like to reassure our local communities and visitors to the island that we are taking all necessary steps to contact trace, and contain the virus but it is vital that everyone in the Western Isles re-double their efforts and follows the current Scottish Government restrictions and FACTS guidance to limit any spread of the virus.”

The most common symptoms of COVID-19 are:

A high temperature (37.8C of greater)

And/or a new and continuous cough

And/or a loss or change in your sense of smell and/or taste.
