Retired maths teacher Calum Macleod just knew that there was a winning image to be found at Callanish, if only he could get the weather to play ball.

Calum told us: “The image was taken on a beautiful, late summer’s evening, between 7 and 8pm just as the sun was about to set.

“I decided to go over to Callanish and Doune Calloway, to take some photos. The sky was very clear and there were a number of people already at the stones, with their cameras on tripods, waiting for the sunset.

I took a few pictures without a tripod, while trying to avoid the other photographers and ensuring that there were no people in the images.

“luckily for me everything came together at just the moment I pressed the shutter button.”

We think it’s a cracker of a shot!

If you’d like to see your image in print, send it to our editor via email at: [email protected] along with some information about when and where you took it, and we’ll try to use it in the first available paper.
