The eighth annual Aries 13 Hebridean Rally has been hailed as arguably the best yet after the addition of a pair of new rally stag-es was twinned with unseason-ably nice weather.
As always, raising cash for Macmillan Cancer Support re-mains the main aim of the rally, but putting on a show to remem-ber has become the rally trade-mark and 2015 will live long into the new year with its unmistak-able tyre tracks imprinted on the memory of all who attended.Organised by Lewis Car Club the eighth rally was the biggest yet with new stages on the Ar-nish Road and the Lewis Wind Turbine road, plus a Friday evening stage using the Lews Cas-tle Grounds.
Having raised over £100,000 for the Western Isles Branch of Macmillan Cancer Support over previous years, everyone involved is working hard to boost this fig-ure even further. Headline spon-sor Aries 13 is again proud to support the Rally, the cancer charity aiming to advance meth-ods of detectingearly stages of cancer.
The event was followed by a Ceilidh and Auction, again all money raised going to Macmillan.
A spokesperson for Lewis Car Club said: “We are all delighted. It was a great success and to be hon-est we don’t think it could have gone any better.
“Even the weather was good for us, it was a bit of a miracle, and we have had glowing reports from everyone so far.
“The new stages went down really well with all the drivers who loved them and they wished they were a bit longer.
“The Friday night went down well and people seemed to enjoy getting the chance to have a wee taster the night before.
“At the moment we have no idea how much we have raised but we hope to beat last year’s tally. We do know it will be a good amount for charity raised.
“In the run up every year we always insist ‘never again’ but I’m already set to go again.”
