auhtor Marion Duffy entertained a small but most appreciative audience in Stornoway Library on Wednesday December 14th, with readings from her co-authored novel ‘Eight of Cups’ by Mirren Jones.
The book is a contemporary saga about six women who meet at University in the 1970s and whose friends include two girls from the Isle of Lewis.
Marion from Meigle in Perthshire, and formerly resident in Ranish, also described how she and her co-author Dr Elaine Atkins, plan their writing strategies and techniques, and how negotiating the necessary creative decisions can impact on their friendship.
The Stornoway audience included Graham Starmore from Windfall Press in Gress, who had typeset the novel and provided invaluable advice about cover design and layout.
Marion was on the island to run a workshop for Medical Practice Managers on Leadership issues. Her past experience in the health service is being put to good use in Mirren Jones’ new novel in progress, Never Do Harm – a psychological drama about two Scottish doctors.
