A number of care homes in the Western Isles have taken the time to record a selection of songs to share with the wider community this Christmas.

Senior social care worker Sarah Mackay came up with the idea to allow care homes across the Western Isles to give a little something back to their communities. The Care Home Cèilidhs will be shared on the Comhairle Facebook page throughout the festive period.

Sarah said,“Care Home Christmas Cèilidhs was an idea I had to allow care homes across the Western Isles to give a little something back to their communities.

We have all been under immense pressure since the start of lockdown. The fear of the unknown was especially difficult to deal with but ultimately we all worked tirelessly to ensure our residents and staff were safe.

For ourselves in Sacred Heart we have experienced first hand the impact of a Covid-19 outbreak. As stressful and challenging as that was, we were truly overwhelmed and humbled to know we had the support of many people across the Western Isles.”
