FiFTY years of caring for the elderly was celebrated recently when the staff of Dun Berisay care home in Stornoway held an afternoon of reminiscing with friends and former colleagues.
There were lots of old and not so old photos on display and some archived items of interest.
Local Councillor Charlie nicolson was the MC on the day, and Paul dundas (Head of Social and Community Service) gave a welcome speech and introduction.
IainnMorrison (nephew of Miss Catherine MacKay – 1st Matron) did a very interesting Power Point presentation about his aunt and his memories of dun Berisay.
The Chaplain of dun Berisay, rev. donald Macdonald, said a prayer and then everyone enjoyed plenty of refreshments and home baking. A stunning cake was made by a former member of staff for the occasion.
