Order Hebridean smoked Scottish salmon this Christmas
The hand-cured and gently smoked Scottish salmon produced by the Scottish Salmon Company at its Harris & Lewis Smokehouse in Stornoway recently impressed judges at two prestigious national food awards.
Now its range – including the award-winning Native Hebridean Scottish Smoked Salmon and highly acclaimed Harris and Lewis Smoked Scottish Salmon – are available for pick-up from the Smokehouse’s new pop-up shop.
The Christmas pop-up will open for business at the Stornoway smokehouse on selected days until Wednesday, December 22, giving festive shoppers the chance to browse the full range of delicious salmon, have a taste before they buy, and grab a 10% discount on their purchases.
They can either drop in during opening times and pick up a bargain, or savvy shoppers can browse at their leisure online, and place an order through the dedicated Harris & Lewis Smokehouse shop website.
Then, they can either collect it from the pop-up shop during opening times or, as long as they order before Wednesday, December 15, arrange for it to be delivered.
The Harris & Lewis Smokehouse’s indulgent range is likely to be in high demand after scooping an impressive series of top awards which recognise its quality, freshness and superb flavours.
Its Native Hebridean Smoked Scottish Salmon, descended from the wild salmon of North Uist and the result of a unique brood stock programme spanning a decade, beat off stiff competition to take the prestigious Great British Food Awards 2021 for Best Smoked Fish & Seafood.
The fully traceable salmon is hand-cured and smoked in pebble-lined kilns with wood shavings from aged Scotch whisky barrels, giving it a flavour described by judge and leading chef Jack Stein as “the perfect smoked salmon”.
Native Hebridean Smoked Scottish Salmon was also named best overall Smoked Salmon at the Tried and Tasted Awards 2021.
While the SSC’s Harris & Lewis Smoked Scottish Salmon was awarded a prestigious 3-star award by Great Taste, the world’s largest and most trusted food and drink awards.
It will now carry the unmistakable black and gold stamp of excellence – an international sign of high quality and excellent flavour.
Judges described it as “melt in the mouth” and “sublime”, and singled out the rich, smoky aroma which still allowed the delicate flavour of the fish to shine through.
All Scottish Salmon Company smoked Scottish salmon products can be stored in the fridge or freezer at home until ready for use during the festive period.
