Isles FM plea to get back on air

The Stornoway-based station, which is run entirely by volunteers, needs to raise £8,000 to cover the cost of the work and repair the transmitter at Eitchal.

Managing director David Morrison explained the station had been off-air now for two weeks and they need the help of the public to bring it back on to the airways.

“We have started a crowdfunding donation page and would appreciate any help we can get,” said David.

“The costs of repair have come at a bad time for us and we are struggling to raise the cash. Its also a difficult time for funding due to the time of year, end of financial year, new budgets not in place.

“We don’t often ask the public for help, but its something we are now going to have to do on an annual basis.”

He added: “Donations can also be made on the station web page by going onto the donate button, or cheques and cash can be handed into the station at 50 Seaforth road for the attention of Kathleen Maciver.
