Paul Carrack prepares to cast his ‘Soul Shadows’ on Scotland

Paul Carrack is a man that knows who when you are on a roll, you keep your foot on the gas.

The former frontman of Ace, Squeeze and Mike & The Mechanics is embarking on yet another UK tour which sees him visit 34 of his favourite venues across the country including two in Scotland.

Paul said: “I can’t wait to get back out on the road again. The tour kicks off in Edinburgh at the Queen’s Hall, and I do love that venue. Although it’s quite compact, it’s very atmospheric. We’ve also got a show at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow, and it’s a very prestigious venue and the crowd is always great in that city.”

The shows coincides with the release of Paul’s new album ‘Soul Shadows’ on January 15, which was recorded in his home studio.

“My garage has served as a recording studio for many albums in the past, but I thought it needed a bit of a makeover,” he said.

“Once it was completed, it was time to get to work. I had bits and pieces of songs on my phone and scribbled down, but after some time spent in the studio, we had a collection of good songs together.”

With an extensive back catalogue of hits, fans can expect a mix of both old and new from the tour.

“We’ve begun rehearsing the new stuff but I’m not sure what will make the set list just yet,” he said.

“But old favourites like ‘Over My Shoulder’, ‘Tempted’ and ‘All I Need Is A Miracle’ will definitely make an appearance.”

Paul has had a varied career and this far along the line, he is still at the top of his game.

“I don’t like to dwell too much on what’s been and gone, the next show is what’s important. The way I look at it, you have two options: get stuck in and do as much as you possibly can, or get fat and lazy. I think working is quite good for you – that’s why I’m back on the road!”
