POPPING across to the Western Isles at the end of last year as support act for Newton Faulkner, rising Highland singer/songwriter Rachel Sermanni returns to An Lanntair arts centre in 2011, this time with the ever popular Mumford and Sons.

Confirmed as tour support for the Mumford Scottish Highlands and Islands tour, this is the latest in a long run of meetings between these two artists.

Rachel’s first meeting with Mumford took place at the Loopallu Festival in Ullapool in September 2009 where, in the small hours of the morning, they ended up sharing songs on the village beach.

2010 then saw the young talent appear on a compilation album alongside other artists including Mumford and Sons, Johnny Flynn, Alessi’s Ark and Marcus Foster as her track ‘My Friend Fire’ was recorded and produced by Mumford boy Ben Lovett and released on his label’s debut Communion compilation disc.

And earlier this year, Rachel was invited to support Mumford and Sons again at their NME awards show at the 500 capacity Dingwalls in London.

Rachel will be joining Mumford and Sons on all Highland and Island dates. Tickets for all shows are now sold out, but to hear more about Rachel, visit www.myspace.com/rachelsermanni
