BACK for a third year and anticipated to be bigger and better than ever is the Stornoway Lunar Walk, taking place next month to raise funds for Cancer Research.

Yes, the time to take a moonlight stroll with friends and family has come around again and this year participants are once again encouraged to dress-up, decorate t-shirts or bras and enter into the party atmosphere which the Walk generates.

And men are also urged to join in the fun and help raised funds for such a worthwhile charity.

The 10km walk begins at 9pm from Perceval Square – with warm and follows Cromwell Street and Bayhead out of town before turning up Matheson Road at the Porter’s Lodge roundabout and heading down James Street, along South Beach and Castle Street to return to the town’s civic square.

And three times round the route will see walkers complete 10k!

Stornoway Lunar Walk organiser Eilidh Thompson said of the 2012 stroll: “Let’s hope for a rain free night – last year’s weather was horrendous on the night, but all thanks go to the women who braved the very cold and wet night: they did an amazing job.

“It’s a great event to get a group of your friends or workmates involved in, and it would be nice to see some men involved again – we’ll let them off with not wearing a decorated bra, so there’s no need for them to worry!”

Entry and sponsor forms for the Stornoway Lunar Walk are available to collect from Lewis Sports Centre and Sportsworld, and entry to the event is £10.
