The Indigenous Olympics

AS Olympic fever begins to take over the UK, BBC ALBA this week brings to the fore another series of games – the Games of the Amazon.

The Soills documentary show ‘Geamannan an Amasoin’ (Amazon Games) follows the annual event as the Olympic flame is lit in Brazil, signalling the opening of the Indigenous Games.

It tells the story of two tribes – the Matis people and the Enawenes Nawes Indians – who will embark upon the journey of a lifetime to take part in an amazing adventure.

Two tribes, two voyages, two incredible adventures, with one unique goal: participate in the Games and win!

‘Geamannan an Amasoin’ will be broadcast on BBC ALBA tomorrow night (Wednesday, May 23rd) at 9pm and repeated on Thursday, May 24th at 10.30pm.
