A UIST couple welcomed their new son Darren into the world on - what is considered by some to be - the luckiest day of the century, the 12th day of the 12th month 2012!

Dougie MacDonald and Catherine MacIsaac from Lochboisdale, South Uist, already feel like the luckiest parents in the world after little Darren came into the world healthy and happy at 6lb, 4oz.

But according to astrologers, little Darren is also set for a life of prosperity after being born on the century’s last sequential date.

Astrologers claim that the qualities of planet Jupiter will be bestowed on babies born on or after 12.12pm on 12th December 2012. Darren was born at 7.10pm, so he fits right into this category.

The NHS Western Isles Maternity team was delighted that little Darren arrived on such a special day, and Dougie and Catherine now have an extraordinary story to tell Darren when he’s older, about his incredible birthday.

Darren, who was born in Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway, is a little brother for Stephen and John Robert.
