Uist student visits Iceland

Peter Ferguson, a University of the Highlands and Islands student from North Uist, visited the Skaftaell glacier in Iceland.

Peter is studying for a degree in fine art through Lews Castle College UHI and visited Iceland for the recent Reykjavik Arts Festival.

He explains: “The natural environment is a major theme in Icelandic art and the UHI course.

“The trip let me experience the work of Icelandic artists and will definitely help my own artwork in the next year of my course.

“I was also interested in how Icelanders make use of their own Viking and Celtic heritage and other cultural parallels with Uist,” he added.
