A hundred years of the South Uist crofting township of Gerinish is to be celebrated later this summer by the annual Ceòlas symposium.

Entitled, “Geirinis an Oir”, the symposium will explore the history of the village, its oral traditions, land struggle, music, religion and the arrival of the rocket range.

It will take place from Sunday, July 24 to Tuesday, July 26.

The celebrations will be opened by an outdoor Mass led by Bishop Joseph Toal at Garryfluich.
