People from across the globe, including the UK, are already signed up to take part in the annual Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K run.
The event, organized by Uig residents Kirsty and Tony Wade, takes place on the Valtos Peninsula Saturday, October 3. All funds raised will go towards proving scholarships in medicine to young women in Afghanistan
The 10K start line will be set at the Cnip end of Reef Beach, with runners, walkers of all ages, and dogs – on a lead please to prevent accidents – welcome to join for the start at noon.
Like last year, there will be soup and home baking for all who take part at the old fire station at Miavaig.
Participants can make a weekend of it and bring a tent and stay at the Reef Beach campsite.
Those who can’t make it to Uig on the day, but would like to give support, can consider running or walking wherever they are - many have already signed up across the world.
Registration for the Linda Norgrove Foundation 10K run is open on the day but is preferable online at www.lindanorgrovefoundation.org/Online_shop
Entry forms are also available from Ionad Spors Leodhais or Sportsworld in Stornoway. Please post registration requests, with your fee (see below), to The Linda Norgrove Foundation, Mangersta, Uig, Isle of Lewis, HS2 9EY.
