The fantastic youngsters down at Sgoil an Rubha recently raised a superb sum of money for ongoing relief work by Steadfast Global in Iraq.

The organisation have been working in Iraq since August 2014 to support refugees who have fled from the so called, Islamic State into the Kurdistan region.

To date they have provided over £43,000 of aid and made two trips into the area.

The support from Sgoil an Rubha went towards a larger initiative that allowed the provision of Christmas gift bags to more than 260 families in eight villages housing refugee families.

Natasha Macdonald (P6) reports: Sgoil an Rubha’s SU group organised a fundraiser for Steadfast Global to help provide Christmas presents for children in Kurdistan, Iraq.

“We were selling toast for 20p on Fridays at breaktime and although we only did it twice, we raised £206.88, so they were able to buy toys for ten families!”
