Na h-Eileanan an Iar MSP, Alasdair Allan, is to ask Scottish Gas to clarify how many people are waiting in the Western Isles for a central heating system to be installed under the Energy Assistance Package.
Pointing out that the Energy Assistance Package has been a great help to many pensioner households and others in the islands, the Isles MSP, Alasdair Allan is concerned that there is a backlog of people waiting for the scheme’s contractor Scottish Gas to install a system.
Dr Allan said: “I previously met with Scottish Gas over this issue but am now concerned to ensure backlogs are not building up again.
“It is important for Scottish Gas to make clear how long people in the islands are now waiting, and also to know what can be done to ensure that the 60 day timeline is met in future.
“Another target set by Scottish Gas, is, I understand, that 98 percent of all systems will be installed to a satisfactory standard. Given the recent comment on these questions in the islands, it is only right that Scottish Gas release these figures. This issue is too important to leave to the winter.”
