An Suileachan wins the coveted Saltire Society Award

At a ceremony held on Thursday 12th September in The Lighthouse, in Glasgow, The Saltire Society, which seeks to recognise and encourage excellence in work which enhances the public spaces where people live, work and play, awarded the prestigious prize to An Suileachan.

The landmark, which was constructed to remember the 19th century Lewis Land Clearances, commemorate the 20th century land raids by the Reef Raiders and celebrate the Scottish Land Reforms and the creation of the Bhaltos Community Trust, is in the village of Reef, Uig, Isle of Lewis.

Marian Leven, Will Maclean and Norry Mackay were at the ceremony to accept the award which is a wonderful testament to the skills and craftsmanship of all who played a role in the design and construction of this unique piece of landscape art.
