Appeal for witnesses following Benbecula thefts

NORTHERN Constabulary is appealing for information following two thefts on the Isle of Benbecula last weekend, which may be linked.

Between 11am on Saturday, September 22nd and 10am on Sunday, September 23rd, a spare wheel was removed from the boot of a Volkswagen Golf car, parked outside the owner’s house in Liniclate, Benbecula.

The spare wheel was a full-size 15’’ steel wheel.

In another incident, between 3.30pm on Friday, September 21st and 8.30pm on Sunday, September 23rd, all four wheel trims were stolen from a Volkswagen Golf car parked in the long-term car park at Benbecula Airport.

The silver colours ‘VW’ branded wheel trims taken are compatible with steel 15’’ wheels.

PC Adrian Kay of Benbecula Police Station, said: “These tow thefts occurred over the same weekend and the items stolen relate to the same make and model of car and also the same wheel size.

“We ask anyone who may have information about these incidents, or who are aware of anybody selling these items, to come forward.”
Police are keen to speak to any occupants of a dark coloured hatchback car, seen driving into the airport car park around 12.40pm on Sunday, September 23rd, who may have information regarding the incidents.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Benbecula Police Station on 01870 602374.
