Battling the weather to make Inverness dance

A broken down ferry and bad weather forecast didn’t stop the MacKinnon Dancers from getting through to Inverness to compete at the Le-Ellen Festival on Saturday, April 13th where 239 Highland Dancers from throughout Scotland gathered to compete.

Fifteen dancers from the Sharon MacKinnon School of Highland Dancing made their annual trip to this competition and for some, it was their first trip to Inverness to compete.

It was a great experience for all the girls and for them to bring home medals from a competition where there is so many dancers taking part and the dancing is at such a high standard, is fantastic.

Local Pipe Major Peter MacKay also accompanied the MacKinnon School on their trip as he was invited along to the Festival to pipe for the day and he did a grand job as always. Another successful competition had and a big well done to Peter and the girls.
