Bernera school show helps raise funds for Bethesda

Pupils from Bernera School were visited on Thursday 25th February 2013 by D.R. Macdonald, the Bethesda Fundraiser.

Mr Macdonald addressed the children at Assembly and shared with them a little of the work of Bethesda. Mr Macdonald then received a cheque for £460 from staff, pupils and parents, money which had been raised by a Christmas Raffle organised by Bernera School Partnership.

The raffle was held in conjunction with the school’s Christmas Show where pupils performed the musical Sheik, Rattle and Roll for all in the local community.

The Head Teacher Kirsteen J. Maclean explained: “The annual Christmas Show has become a highlight of the year for the residents of Great Bernera who, regardless of the weather come out each year to support the school by filling the hall to capacity.

“The School Partnership were unanimous in their desire to donate the proceeds of our Christmas activities to Bethesda Hospice and we know that the money will be put to good use in that establishment.”
