Big Lottery funding boost for The Leanne Fund

It may have started its journey in the Western Isles, but now local charity The Leanne Fund has secured £133,301 from The Big Lottery Fund to allow expansion to the Grampian area and support many more individuals affected by Cystic Fibrosis.

The charity currently supports those across the Highlands and Islands and will utilise this funding to take forward a three year Development Project to assist many more families.

Ann Marie Murray, Chair of The Leanne Fund said: “We are absolutely delighted to secure this crucial funding which will allow us to build on our work to assist even more individuals with Cystic Fibrosis and their families.

“This is a hugely significant milestone for us which will allow us to recruit a staff member to develop this service.

“We know the difference that a support service makes to those affected by Cystic Fibrosis and those around them and we are hugely grateful to the Big Lottery Fund for believing in our project which we hope will make a big difference.”

The Leanne Fund Development Project includes plans to support those affected by Cystic Fibrosis with fitness plans and equipment; counselling; complementary therapies and the administration of small grants and crisis funds.

Big Lottery Fund Scotland Chair, Maureen McGinn, said: “I am delighted that The Leanne Fund is one of 60 groups sharing in our latest grants totalling over £17 million.
