The tickets for the Stornoway Gazette’s Big Referendum Debate, taking place at Stornoway Town Hall on September 1st, flew out the door this morning with 80 tickets allocated to the public in the space of two hours.

Two other ticket allocations will take place in Ness and Harris on Thursday, August 28th - see details on where and when in the Stornoway Gazette on August 21st.

Four panellists for the event have already been announced.

Putting the case for Yes Scotland are: local businessman Gordon ‘Diesel’ Maclennan and Western Isles MSP Dr Alasdair Allan.

Making the case for Better Together are: local accountant Roddy Cunningham and former MSP for the Western Isles and chairman of the local Better Together group Alasdair Morrison.

This Thursday the paper will announce the final panellists for both sides - two big political names have been confirmed - so catch this week’s issue if you want to find out who will complete our panel.

And if you missed out on tickets then there will be an opportunity to see the event online as we are currently planning a live stream of the debate.
