Forty bed nursing home ‘Blar Buidhe’, located at Steinish on the outskirts of Stornoway has been put up for sale by owners HC-One.
The home only re-opened to admissions last month following a multi-agency investigation into residents’ dietary programmes.
A spokesperson said the decision to sell the home on Simon Road was due to a wider review of their national network and 24 facilities had now been identified.
He said: “Following HC-One’s successful financial reorganisation, we have carried out a detailed review of all our homes to ensure we continue to provide the kindest possible care, enhance the wellbeing of residents and remain sustainable in the future.
“After careful and considered planning we have taken the difficult decision to sell Blar Buidhe care home, Stornoway.
“This is part of a broader process which involves 24 homes nationally. For each home, we will work hard to find a local provider who is well placed to continue to operate the home and who shares our commitment to providing high quality and kind care.”
He added: “The selected homes are either geographically remote, smaller, older, or where we have found particular challenges in recruiting nurses.
“This announcement is part of our journey to reshape HC-One to achieve our aim of delivering kind and high quality care within the context of a sustainable and growing organisation.
“The continued health, safety and wellbeing of each resident we support remains our priority, and we will be working closely with the appropriate authorities to make sure this is a seamless transition.
“There will be no changes to the day-to-day running of the home during this period, and delivering high quality, kind care will be our absolute focus.”
HC-One say there will be no changes to the day-to-day running of the home during his period.
