Bòrd na Gàidhlig seeks new appointments

Scottish Ministers are seeking to appoint up to four enthusiastic and committed individuals to the national language body, Bòrd na Gàidhlig.

Bòrd na Gàidhlig is a statutory Non Departmental Public Body established under the Gaelic Language (Scotland) Act 2005 and is responsible for safeguarding the future of Gaelic in Scotland, for promoting the use and understanding of the Gaelic language and for developing and supporting Gaelic education and culture.

With a new National Gaelic Language Plan to be implemented from April 2012, the Bòrd are looking for individuals who share the ambitions of the Plan and can take Bòrd na Gàidhlig’s work forward with a robust, evidenced-based approach to language planning at the heart of its activity.

The appointment of the Bòrd members will be for a three year term with the possibility of re-appointment for a second term.

The appointments will take effect from mid February 2012, and the closing date for applications is 3 November 2011
