Dancers from the Sharon Mackinnon School of Highland Dancing had a busy month of it in May, where not only did they take part in the LHDS competition held locally at the start of the month, but they also sat their annual Highland, National and Grade Examinations under the British Association of Teachers of Dancing. 42 pupils sat their Medal Tests achieving a 100% pass rate, with excellent results and feedback from the BATD Examiner.

Pupils were presented with their medals and certificates from dance teacher Sharon Macdonald at a family concert held in the Nicolson Institute on Tuesday, June 24th.

On 31st May, the Mackinnon dancers competed in the Mod Ionadail Uibhist competition held in Iochdar School and returned home with a selection of medals and trophies.

The dancers are now busy preparing for their next lot of competitions and events which are to be held over the summer which include a special competition to celebrate the Year of Homecoming that will coincide with Tattoo Hebrides.

It will take place on Thursday 7th August on the Lews Castle Green and any dancers interested in entering this competition can contact Sharon Macdonald on 07557 143 044 for further details.

All local Highland Dance schools from Lewis and Harris will then be putting on a lovely joint display of dancing at the main event held on the Castle Green on the evening of Friday 8th August.
