Busy weekend at sea

A 42 year old Portugese Fisherman was airlifted off the FV Jan Maria which was fishing off the West Coast of Lewis by Stornoway Coastguard Helicopter on Saturday, January 9th and flown to Western Isles Hospital for treatment.

The Fisherman who spoke no English, after treatment for a severed finger which had got trapped in the trawl doors, was discharged into the care of Stornoway Fishermens Mission who arranged accommodation and repatriation back home to Germany.

On Sunday Morning, January 10th Stornoway Lifeboat launched in atrocious weather to assist a yacht with engine trouble in the Minches, a crewman was taken to Stornoway to effect repairs.
