With the filming of Katie Morag due to being in under two weeks, production company Move On Up is looking for people living in Lewis and Harris to play background characters.
The series, which will air on the BBC’s children’s channel Cbeebies, is a 26 part live-action production based on the hugely successful children’s books by Mairi Hedderwick and will be shot on the Isle of Lewis.
The team are looking for local people, ideally with some acting experience, who can take on various roles in the programme – ranging from featured characters with some dialogue and acting required, to simpler roles such as customers in the Post Office.
The casting session will be held on Monday 22nd April and the company are on the look out for people to play The Ferryman, The Ferryman’s Wife, Mrs Bayview, Mr McMaster and Mrs McMaster.
These roles will require a commitment to filming on several days throughout our shoot, from May to mid-August. People in their 40’s to 50’s would be ideal.
There are also roles for people to play background characters who crop up in single episodes; some of these will be passer-bys on the street, shoppers in the Post Office, or guests at a ceilidh.
All roles will be paid a daily rate and will require attendance on set or at location for long hours.
Supporting Artists will be expected to provide their own transport to and from unit base each day (this may be anywhere on the island).
If you are interested please email head-shot photographs (they don’t have to be professionally done) with any relevant acting experience, and details of your availability over the next three months to firstname.lastname@example.org. Information on locations and times of auditions will be emailed to you.
Unfortunately due to travel constraints, this opportunity is only open to residents of the Isle of Lewis and Harris.
