Christmas will officially arrive in Stornoway tomorrow night (Thursday, December 1) when the Christmas lights are turned on.

The festivities will kick off at 6.30pm in Perceval Square with performances by several local bands.

Oichdhe Chiadain will play from 6.30pm till 7pm followed by a parade by Lewis Pipe Band.

The annual prize giving will then take place with Leader of the Comhairle Angus Campbell delivering the Christmas message.

Sinead Mackay and Keith Morrison will then lead the carol singing before the lights are switched on at 7.45pm.

This year the honour of pressing the button will go to two pupils nominated by Stornoway Primary.

Celebrations will then continue with a display by the IsleDance Northwest Allstars cheerleading squad and local bands Stuttgart and Iglue. MC for the evening is David Morrison.
