Church in the morning shout in the afternoon
The local lifesavers, along with members of Stornoway RNLI Branch and the Stornoway Lifeboat Ladies Guild, joined the morning congregation at St Columba’s on Sunday, July 24th, for the special thanksgiving service.
The annual Sea Sunday sees churches all over the world come together to remember and pray for those working at sea, their families and those who support them.
Then at 2.40pm yesterday (Sunday), the local lifesavers launched the ‘Tom Sanderson’ lifeboat on shout as they were tasked to the aid of an injured female aboard a cruise ship.
The lifeboat launched for a medical evacuation of a female with an eye injury aboard the cruise liner ‘Boudicca’ which was on passage through the Minch.
The lifeboat and cruise liner rendezvoused off north west Skye, and the injured female transferred to Stornoway, arriving at 5pm, to awaiting ambulance before being taken to Western Isles Hospital.
The ‘Tom Sanderson’ lifeboat was back alongside and refuelled by 5.45pm.
