Coastguard rescue in South Uist

At 9am yesterday Stornoway Coastguard received a call about a group of three Belgian nationals on South Uist who had got into difficulties at Ushinish.

A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said: “One casualty had a reported dislocated ankle and two suffering from exhaustion.

“They were airlifted by search and rescue helicopter to Stornoway airport where they were then taken by ambulance to Western Isles Hospital for treatment.”
