The Commanding Officer of 7 Scots, Lt. Col. Piers Strudwick was in Stornoway to give a presentation to local businesses and civic leaders to present some of the opportunities (both financial and new skills learning) that are available to all employers and also employees of being a member of the local Army reserve forces in Stornoway.

Later the Commanding Officer met veterans from the various forces in the Stornoway drill hall where a cheque was presented to Poppy Scotland for £820 (pictured).

This money was raised in a recent raffle held in the Army Reseve Centre.

A big thanks goes to all who helped in donating prizes and to everyone who helped run the event, and of course to everyone who purchased raffle tickets.

The Commanding officer would like to thank every body who attended both the talk and the social gathering that night.

The Commanding officer will be back in up next year to give an other talk about the benefits of the local reserve in the community and the rewards that this can bring.

If anyone from the business community wants to find out more about this event they are advised to either pop into the Army reserve centre or call 703 176 for more information.
