Comhairle nan Eilean Siar is analysing payments made to staff working within adult services and residential care following an audit which has identified that some staff have been, in error, underpaid and others overpaid.
The Comhairle is now working with staff and Trade Unions to assess the situation. It is thought that between 60 to 100 employees may be affected.
Iain MacAulay, Director of Social and Community Services said: “Our priority at the moment is to get the necessary information and to support those staff affected. We have already held discussions with the Trade Unions and we will continue to work with our employees and keep them up to date. It looks at this stage that this anomaly has come about from a simple process error.”
He added: “I appreciate that this may cause concern but wish to reassure employees affected that we will do everything possible to address matters as early as possible. Of course any staff member who has any concerns should in the first instance contact their line manager or Trade Union representative.”
