A Stornoway woman has been found lying dead in a Glasgow street.
Tanya Anne Black, 25, was found in a Springburn Street in the early hours of Friday morning (December 4), after police were called to scene.
Her sister Nicole McKenzie, 19, took to social media to tell of the family’s anguish and sorrow, and that she was making the funeral arrangements for her sister.
Nicole has now launched a gofundme page to help pay for the costs of her sister’s funeral, as she attempts to repatriate the body home to the family home in Stornoway.
She said: “My family just can’t handle the shock, so I have to organise her funeral.
“I want to make her proud by giving her the best send-off possible.”
One beneficiary who donated to the fundraising page left a message saying: “So sad and far too young. We never knew Tanya but this touched us. I hope you raise enough for the funeral costs. Times will get better.”
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police were called to Carleston Street in Springburn on Friday morning in a concern for a person call.
“Sadly, Tanya was found dead at the scene.
“There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and that a report would be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
The family are expecting the results of a post mortem later this week as they try to come to terms with the loss of a loved one.
The gofundme page is hoping to raise £10,000 and at the time of going to press had raised a total of £420 from 25 generous individuals.
