CWI appoints former Harris minister as new Scottish Secretary

Christian Witness to Israel (CWI) has appointed Rev Ruairidh MacLean as its new Scottish Secretary.

Mr MacLean is a graduate of the Free Church College, where he gained his Bachelor of Theology degree, and he was previously the minister of Leverburgh Free Church minister on the Isle of Harris.

Ruairidh is married to Peigi and they have a son Seòras.

He has had a prayerful concern for the Jewish people and an interest in the ministry of CWI for many years and will replace Ray McCabe who served as the Society’s Scottish Secretary from the 1960s.

Like Ray, Ruairidh will be based in the Glasgow area where he and his family will move in the spring, and he will accompany Mike Moore and David Zadok in this year’s annual CWI tour of Scottish churches.

Ruairidh will commence his ministry in the spring but the precise date is, at the moment, uncertain.

But if you would like to book him for a meeting, please contact CWI head office on 01959 565955.

Please pray that Ruairidh and his family will soon find suitable accommodation in the Glasgow area and that his ministry will be a blessing to churches in Scotland.

CWI is a UK-based interdenominational evangelistic society that is committed to sharing the good news of Jesus the Messiah with Jewish people.

The organisation was founded in 1842 in response to an initiative by Dr John Duncan, who saw the great potential for a mission to the Jews in London, while on his way to commence his ministry to the Jews of Budapest.

The Free Church made a fresh commitment to “Jewish Mission” in 1921 by channelling resources into what became CWI.

Since that time, the Free Church has made a significant contribution to the organisation, by way of missionaries, and also financial and prayer support.
